Unit of Inquiry - Tuning In This week we began our Unit of Inquiry: How We Organise Ourselves. We first began by defining the word "Organise". We agreed that organise means to 'put things away in the right place' and 'put things that are the same type together.' We practiced this by organising buttons by different traits. The following day we started unpacking our central idea: Systems are developed to meet the needs of our community. We started by tuning into who is in our classroom community. We did this by creating a class community book and drawing a mural of our classroom community out of chalk in our outdoor play area. Literacy It is always important to review important skills at the start of the school year! This week for literacy we focused on developing our fine motor skills by creating push-pin letters on cork boards and threading leaves! We also reviewed how to label pictures. Labelling pictures helps us to add more detail in our writing and can give us more ideas on what to include in our sentences. Push pin letters and leaves Practising our labelling by labelling Ms Su! Math This week we went on a number hunt safari around school, and reviewed our numbers to 20 by creating a number line outside! Bonus fun!

What's Happening Next Week
Monday: Tuesday: PE Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Show and Tell Wow, the first two days have flown by! It has been just wonderful welcoming the children to their new school and helping them settle into their class. Already I have seen the children start to organise themselves, taking responsibility for their things and becoming more confident to join in with the different learning experiences. Take a look at some of the things we have been up to this week. Classroom Agreements We discussed different ways of staying safe and kind while at school, and came up with some essential classroom agreements.
